£IOOO LIBEL T. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. An action was brought, tp-day by, Harry Ninham Gooch, sharebroker, of; Wellington and Sydney, claiming. £IOOO damages for alleged libelagainst the New Zealand Financial, Times Company Limited, the editor of, the journal, Howard Elliott, and the printer, Ernest Fraser- Jones, In opening the case for the defence, Mr. Wilson contended that it would bef abundantly plain that Gqpcjh was promoter of Coal Oil (N,Z.) Lincited, and such censure and aa appeared in the Finajiqial. Times, article was fair and proper in thq; mouth of a financial journal, and fairly attributable to Gooch. Decision was reserved.
