An action was brought to-day by Harry Ninham, Gooch, sharebroker, of Wellington and Sydney,, claiming £IOOO damages for alleged libel against tho Now Zealand Financial Times Company, Limited, the editor of iho journal, Howard Elliott, and the printer, Ernest Fraser Jones. The contention is advanced that words in an article .in the Financial Times meant, and were intended, to mean that, the plaintiff had tricked investors into subscribing for shares in Coal Oil (N.Z.) Limited, that tlie plaintiff had assisted in preparing a deliberately misleading prospectus and also had been guilty of dishonorable, and unprofessional conduct. The defendants denied the meaning attributed to the words by the plaintiff.
