The second race of a senes under the auspices of the Poverty Bay Homing Pigeon Society took place in ideal weather conditions from papier on Saturday. There were 11 competitors, and despite a strong he*d wind some good times were recorded. f Following are the results m bript: F. Dunstan’s Willows Chief, flying time Sirs. 2min. 18sec., 1; W. Dunstans Starlight, 2hrs. 2min. 22sec., 2; A. Sheppard’s Blue Metal, Sins. 7mm. 15sec., 3; J. Forster’s Black Prince and T,he Roof, 2hrs. Tmin. 22sec., 4. Also competed: F. Wildish’s Redwings, G. Cudd's Bonny Colours, F. Dunstan s Flying Star, A. Sheppard’s Red Fuchsia ,and Princess Star, and A\. Dunstan s Red Terror. . . , ~. , Weather permitting, it is hoped that a further race, probably from Takapau, will take place next .Saturday. Th.e society is indebted tp Mr H. •f'. Forster, who has donated a clip fpr competition over long distances, in addition to which he proposes to present a miniature cup. to the winner of jpost points for the season. At the last meeting it was unanimously resolved that the secretary - bo instructed to write to Mr. Forster: conveying to him the society’s grateful appreciation of his kind offer. If all goes well there will probably bo a good number pf entries for the first race for this trophy, which, it 'has been suggested, may take place from either Woodville or Palmerston North* oh Saturday week. .
