HOSPITAL BOARD’S POLICY A letter from the Waikato Hospital Board advising that its policy was not to accept responsibility for the payment of rent for the indigent sick gave rise to strong protest at a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council. “It is totally unfair to tho sick unemployed and their families, and is not in accordance with the duties of the Hospital Board,” said the Mayor. Mr. F. 1). Pinfold. “The amount of relief which tho board giants to these families is quite insuflicieu to find them shelter as well as food.” The deputy-mayor. Air. A. .1. Henz, said it was disgraceful that the families in such cases should be thrown into the street if it were not for the interest taken hv various organisal ions in Hamilton'. On the motion of the Mayor, it was decided to refer the matter back to the board for its reconsideration.
