Mr. G. If. Lockett will lecture tomorrow at 7 p.m. at .16 Childers road on the “Problems of the Press,’’ and will speak specially on behalf of dumb creatures which cannot utter one word on their own behalf.
The ladies of the St. Luke’s Guild, Wacrenga-adiika, have been very busy sowing and making useful articles to meet ithe slender purses of these times. The fete, as usual, will be held in attractive surroundings, all the stalls being arranged under shady irees. Afternoon tea will be served under tine spacious walnut tree. The shilling brown paper pared stall, which is a new iattraetion this year, will lie a pleasant surprise to all. Competitions ol various descriptions will, add to the 'enjoyment of the afternoon. As last year, there will be no charge for admission. On Saturday, December 3. the members of the Holy Trinity Ladies’ Guild will hold their annual sale of work in tho City Hall. All the usual .stalls will be in evidence, and games for the amusement of all will bo run by members of Holy Trinity Men’s Club. (Through unfo'rseeu circumstances, the sale is later than usual, but all friends 'ami sympathisers are asked to attend and assist to make tiie sale a success, both monetary and otherwise. Every penny will help. There will be a flannel i dance in the evening, arrangements for . this being in the hands of a capable committee. Gifts for any of tho stalls will be acceptable, and especially cakes for the tea-room.
