British railways are steadily invading (lie roads, to compete with the rapidlygrowing motor transport services. In addition, the railways own or have an interest in 4000 parcel and freight motor vehicles. They have 16.409 horses and 31.0C0 horse vehicles. Tims the horse, too, is being mobilised to combat the train’s rivals.
Considerable co-ordination between rail and road passenger traffic lias been achieved, hut in freight traffic bitter competition prevails with all the aspects of a traffic war.
