WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
ORMOND MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Ormond Women's Institute was held in the hull last Tuseday, the president, Mrs. Cumming, presiding over an attendance of 35 members and three visitors.
A motion of condolence was passed to Mrs. McKinnon in the loss of her mother, and to Mrs. Lee in the loss of her mother-in-law, members standing in silence.
The president gave a' short resume of the council meeting held on November 11.
The knitted squares "which have been made by members in the institute colors have now been formed into a guilt, which is to be given to a local resident, and the knitted singlets are to bo given to the Plunkot Society. Mrs. Smith, of the Matawai institute, gave a very interesting demonstration of glove making, which was greatly appreciated, Mrs. Cumming moving a vote of thanks to her for the efficient manner in which she carried this out. The motion was carried. Birthday greetings wero also accorded the demonstrator, who suitably responded. In tho competition, “Essay on our Institute,” the scarcity of entries was more than counterbalanced 1 by tho quality of the work submitted, the successful entrants being: Miss E. Grey, 1; Mrs. T. B. Jones, 2; Mrs. A. Barron, 3. The roll call, “The household task I most dislike,” was well responded to, only one fine being collected. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the ‘hostesses, Mesdnmes Porter, Pardoc, Paulson, and Miller, and Miss Porter. The proceedings closed with tho singing of the National Anthem.
