YESTERDAY’S MEETING SOME PINE PERFORMANCES Some line performances were registered at the weekly evening track meeting of the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club held on the Childers road reserve yesterday. The entries were an -improvement -on the other meetings this season and a programme of 30 events was carried out in an expeditious manner.
The best performances were those of Miss J. iSliorter, who by putting the Shot 31ft. beat by lft. Sin. the existing Poverty Bay record established by herself last February, and E. Grant, who covered the 220yds. in 22 2-ssec., t his being the best time for the distancerecorded by a local runner. In the three-mile flat handicap, B. Cousins, a High School student, also gave a good account of himself. By winning the lpmile cycle handicap, T Campbell, the well-known rider, showed a return to form.

Three Miles Flat Handicap (first distance for the Gordon Cup).—R, Cousins, 155yds, 1; L. Hall, 500yds, 2; 0. Wellington, 300yds, 3. Won by half a lap Time, 16min. 36sec.
