(Herald Correspondent.) The Patutahi Hall was well idled on Wednesday evening, when a valedictory social was tendered by the -members of tho local tennis club to Mr John lbodej .on the eve of his departure for England to pursue hi„ studies ~t tho Loudon School of Dancing. On behalf of the Nub, Mr. L. East presented the guest with a handsome leather travelling companion, and in the course of a iew wellchosen words wished him bon voyage, expressing the hope tiurt he would soon return with Jresli laurels to his ciedit. He Would bo missed not only as an activo member of the club, but as one who had always given his services willingly at all social functions. Mr. Thodey responded amid cheers and “For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow.” An enjoyable time was spent dancing to music supplied by Miss Menzies, and the singing of “Auld Lang Syno brought a 'pleasant function to a close.
