SUCCESSFUL MEETING INTERESTING HNISHES The popularity of the Thursday evening sports meetings conducted bv the Poverty Bay Professional Athletic and Cycling Club was illustrated last evening, when a large crowd of spectators gathered at the Victoria Domain to witness the mixed programme of athletic, cycling, and field events. There were good fields; 11 events took place, the contests being keen through-. out, with close finishes. In the cycling event two of the contestants had a spill. C. O 'Connell was unable to negotiate one of the bends and both rider and bicycle ended up in a fence. In the straight, with a good chance of winning, H. J. Davis collided with one of the other cyclist’s wheels' and was brought down. A good performance was put up by N. Beale, 120yds., who secured another win.
