,A meeting of the general committee of the Nulinka A. and P. Society was hold on the showgrounds yesterday, when there were present: Messrs. M. R. Shaw, president, A. Richardson, F. H. Young, C. R. Sturm, W, Sturm, James Small, J. B. Monteath, Wi Ncpia, J. Pomona and P. J. Brewster, secretary. Before commencing the business of the meeting, the president moved a vote of condolence with Messrs. E. L. Cullen and 11. Haronga, who had suffered bereavements since the last meeting. The motion was carried in the customary manner, members standing in silence. One new member was elected, Mr. R. G. Wilson, of Waituhi, Whakaki, and the resignations of two were received, Messrs. J Johnstone and Alton, Opoutama, and | tho secretary was instructed to write to the latter expressing appreciation of their very valuable support during 'past years, Mr. Johnstone having been secretary to the society for a term. A considerable amount of correspondence was dealt with, most important among which was a notification from the Department of Agriculture giving i approval of the appointment of Mr. P. Everett as judge of the fruit section, and a letter from Miss V. deLautour requesting that some steps bo taken to provide a train from Wairoa for the conveyance of horses and other stock to Nuhaka for the Show on i January 2. The secretary intimated that he had made inquiries and ascertained that the Public Works Department required a guarantee of £lO before it would run a special train on Show day, and Mr. Brewster was instructed to confer with tho officials regarding arrangements for a train, and report to a sub-committee which will liavo power to act in the matter of accepting the offer. It is confidently hoped that a train will run to suit tho convenience of exhibitors and patrons alike, in which case Ihe exhibitors of horses from Wairoa especially will be able to avoid the necessity of travelling their horses the 21 miles each way from Wairoa. An application for the use of the showgrounds on Monday, March 2 1, 19.1.1, for a sports meeting was received from tho Nuhaka centre of the L.D.S. and was granted on the usual terms. It was decided that any cow. whether purebred or grade, or any breed, bo eligible for tho buttorfat competition, and that tho public risk for Show day be insured with tho South British Insurance Company, and also that a sum not exceeding £5 be spent in procuring pump and piping'provided tho lessee of section US, Mr. Nepia, sink a well and procures a supply of water. A member pointed out a mistake in the schedule regarding the Women's Institute classes at the Show, and it was resolved that class 168 should read Maori kit, not Maori mat as in the schedule. Tho secretary reported a credit balanco of £45 3s Gd. as follows: Cash at bank, £37 13s Gd; cash in hand, £7 10s. There was a credit, of £27 11s 8d at the same time last year.
