GISBORNE CLUB GAMES NO GRADING OF PLAYERS Four competition games in the Gisborne Bowling Club will be suspended for one week in each mouth, for the iuture, and ordinary games will be substituted. The innovation, decided on by the club committee recently, was brought into force yesterday, when members expressed their appreciation of the change. The innovation is accompanied by a change in tho system of picking-up for ordinary games, the positions of graded players being discontinued, and an opportunity being afforded to 'all members of taking more prominent positions in the games arranged. The reversal of the order of grading yesterday resulted in close finishes in the three games played, the results being as under: — IT. E. Bright, Alaude, Adams, Miller is) 17 v. A meeting of the council of tho New Zealand Bowling Association has given the following ruling regarding the markin,,- of bowls:—“Bowls, which are in use and which have a distinctive mark on the large disc, will be sufficiently marked to comply with the requirements if (lie numbered disc is permanently marked with the owner’s initials or with a design similar to that on the large disc. New bowls must bear a similar distinctive mark on both discs of each bowl.
