FINE DISPLAY OF FLOWERS

TGLAGA BAY SHOW HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY’S FUNCTION (Herald Correspondent.) The Tolagn. Bay Amateur Horticultural Society's combined spring and summer show drew a good proportion ui the district’s population to the Reynolds’ Hall yesterday afternoon and last night. Exmbits in all sections came forward in good numbers, and the quality of the flowers displayed, when one considers that there has been much dry weather of late, was good. In the flower sections, the sweet peas were outstanding, some exceptionally fine blooms exhibited by Mr. A. 11. Jackman taking first prize. Some line roses, too, were shown, Mrs. J. B. Morris prize rose, an exceptionally good specimen, being adjudged the best bloom iri the show. Entries in the cooking classes were not so numerous as has sometime* been the case, but, none the less, t-lu qualify of the exhibits made them a very attractive array. Fruit and produce attained a fairly high standard, though here again entries were nut particularly’ large. The school sections maintained their usual standard of excellence, soma splendid specimens of all classes of the children’s work being shown.

The prize-winners of the various eups were as follow : Best bloom in cut flowers section, silver challenge cup.—Mrs. J. B. Morris. Challenge cup for most points in sweet pea classes. —A. It. Jackman.
