The attitude- of the Wellington watersiders on the question of the handling of frozen meat will lie discussed at a stop-work meeting tomorrow. The meeting will also discuss (he question of the reduction of salaries and the number of union officials.
It is stated that many members of the union consider the officials’ salaries too high 'Considering the present greatly reduced earnings. They consider that the only official to draw a salary should be tile secretary, and that he should be paid on the basis of a 44-hour week at a basic rate of pay of 2s per hour, that is £4 8s per week. Last year the officials’ wages accounted for £775, the officials in receipt of salary being 1 the secretary, the acting-secre-tary, the walking delegate, and the acting-walking delegate, while the honoraria to the president, treasurer, librarian and Fox ton delegate accounted for £54, and the upkeep of a motor ear at the disposal of the secretary ami the walking delegate cost a further £7!).
