THEFT OF £2161
SOLICITOR’S ADMISSION (Pur Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Matthew Prust Stewart, 37, a solicitor, to-day admitted stealing £2161 of his clients’ funds, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. One client, a farmer, aged 75 years, said he instructed the accused, whom he trusted, to invest £7OO on mortgage. He received three payments of interest on the supposed mortgage, but eventually discovered that his name did not appear on it. The accused was allowed bail in the sum of £SOO.
