YOUNG MAORI’S DEATH
inquest opened
An inqudst into the circumstance.* surrounding the death of a young Maori, Kawana Rangi Ehu, 24, single, which occurred suddenly at Sponge Bay at 5 p.m. yesterday, was held before the coroner, Mr. P. IL Harper, S.M., this afternoon.
Henry Paul, of Sponge Bay, gave evidenco that, deceased, who was a laborer, was formerly an employee of the Public Works Department. About 18 months ago lie became ill and went to the King George V Hospital, Rotorua, where lie had been treated. After remaining there for three months, the deceased had returned to Kopua, living there until a month ago. He then went out to Sponge Bay to relatives, thinking that the sea* air wpuld do him good, but had been confined to bed all the trine. At 5 p.m. yesterday when playing a mouth organ in his bedroom Iw* had suddenly expired- The de-' ceased had not been attended by a doctor since his return from Rotorua. His father, Rangi Eh it, resided at Ivopua. The inquest was adjourned until Wod nesday, November 30.
