The first prosecutions under, the amended Federal Crimes Act, dealing with communism, were launched against four men soliciting- contributions to an alleged illegal organisation, the Communist Party, in Australia. The defendants arc Francis Devanev, Robert Grey, Samuel Frew and Joseph Ryan.
