HUGE LANDSLIDE
PANAMA CANAL IN PERIL NEW YORK, Sept. 7. According to a messagk from Panama City, a huge landslide threatens eompletey to block the Panama Canal. The fall has occurred on the east side of the puldbra Gut, where numerous smaller slides have occurred since the canal .Was apened. . t . ~• Engineers are sounding the channel to discover whether the landslide has affected the bed of the canal. At present it appears that the passage of ships will not be impeded, bat, officials are of the opinion that any development of the fall may well render the canal impassable.
