FEW drivers realise that the rate ot 1 tread wear at 4,1 miles is double that at .9-7 miles an hour. High speed averages impose extra strains (in engine, brakes, springs, axles and wheel bearings.
DECIDES increasing engine wear due to the oil overheating and losing some of its lubricating properties, running with a low oil level in the sump increases oil consumption owing to increased loss past the pistons.
A RE MB LING or droning noise from ' the, engine is sometimes due to slackness in the dynamo bearings, and sometimes it will be noticed to vary when the position of the charging switch is altered. It can be felt as vibration by placing the hand on the dvnamo.
W7ORN universal joints that allow W the tail shaft to run out of line are often a cause of vibration for which the engine is blamed.
