BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION GAMES’ NIGHT HELD To mark the close of the 1932 baskethall season a games’ night was held by the Poverty Bay Basketball Association in the Gaiety Skating lunk last night. There was a good attendance and the evening was successful from every standl ’ C -q' think you will all agree that the season has been a most successful one, said Mrs. G, H, Skbats, president o the , association, in outlining the work ot the year, ‘•and that the standard of play has shown a great improvement as compared v>itii previous year. "The executive has had a rather difficult time in regard to finance,” . Mrs. Steals continued, ‘'because early in the season we had to find 826 in order to complete the pavilion. The Borough Council and the Domain Board were able to arrange for most of the money required and we are very grateful to them lot* the tine and useful building provided. "Our representative teams were successful in .matches played against Wairoa, Napier, Hastings and Matawai, aim poverty Bay is now the holder of the lltbsoh Cup, presented by Mr. Robson, of Wairoa. ~ V ■. . • . “As you are aware, the NeW Zealand championships will be held in Gisborne nixt season,, which is a great honor to -he town. \Ve must, therefore, do every , thing possible to make the tournament a success.
