IMPALED ON SHAFT
HEAD SEVERED FROM BODY BRISBANE, Oct. 6. Alexander Poole, 95, was impaled on a shaft of a cart and decapitated at Newstead, near the city, to-day. The cart horse suddenly shied and bolted along the street. Poole, who was on the road, did not hear the approach of the runaway until it was very close to him. As ho turned his head, a shaft penetrated his throat. The horse went faster, while Poole’s body still hung from tho shaft. Turning a corner tho horse crashed into a motor truck, and the sudden impact caused Poole’s body to fall. When the. horse iralloped on a wheel severed Poole’s head.
