WAIKOHU ASSOCIATION MATCHES FOR NEXT WEEK The Waikohu Boxing Association, revived through the energy of a number of residents of the township of lo Karaka with assistance from county settlers, lias been fortunate in, enlisting assistance from the Hawke’s Bay association, which will send a team of amateur boxers to the Waikohu tournament next week, under the charge of Mr. J. Strickland, of Hastings, secretary of tho Hawke’s Bay association. Mr. Strickland, ho has had a good deal of experience, will act as referee for all bouts, including the professional match between Joe Franklin and J. McKay, which will head the bill of attractions and incidentally will mark the entry of both principals to tho professional ranks. , _ , The amateur bouts for the Waikohu association’s tournament were the sub-, ject of discussion at a meeting of the committee last evening, when the following schedule of contests was finally approved: — Matcliett v. Buckingham, four 2minuto rounds. Archibald v. McAncny, three 2minuto rounds. • Davis (flyweight champion of Hawke s Bay) v. W. McKay (Gisborne) four 2 minute rounds. Gregory v. Waugh, four 2-minuto founds. Callaghan v. Donkin (featherweight champion of Hawke’s Bay), four 2minute rounds. Wright v. Turnbull, three 2-minute rounds. August v. McNulty, three 2-minute rounds. Clayton v. ITogig (welter champion of New Zealand), four 2-minute rounds Ferguson » (welter champion of Hawke’s Bay) v. Thornton, four 2rninute rounds. Rush v. selected opponent. Boyle (flyweight champion of Hawke’s Bay) v. selected opponent.
