WEDDING

PHELPS—PEARSE Yesterday afternoon a very pretty wedding took place at Ho y Trinity Churchi when Eileen Alary, daughter of Airs. Pcarse and the late Air. \v. BPearse, of Gisborne, was married to George John, a. son of Airs.- Phelps, ot Wairiui, Gisborne, and the late Air. Phelps. The marriage ceremony was performed by the Rev. F. T. Parsons, and Air. W. Kohn officiated at the organ. The church was prettily decorated with mixed spring blooms and greenery, and was a charming sotting for the picturesque bridal group. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Air. Ray Pearse, wore a beautiful gown of ivory georgette, fashioned with a plain bodice finished with a round neckline trimmed with pearls, and a verv full flared ankle length skirt. Dainty silk lace bound with georgette hung from the waistline to the hips, giving a rounded coatee effect, and the long georgette sleeves each terminated in a circular cuff of the silk lace bound with georgette. A narrow georgette belt encircled the waist and was clasped in front with a diamante brickie, and from the left shoulder hung a. cluster of orange, blossom reaching to the Waist. A dainty tiille veil embroidered in silk was mounted on a becoming silk lace cap finished with a cluster of orange blossom over each ear, and luing in graceful folds over the frock. The bride’s charming toilette was completed with white satin court shoes and hose to tone, and a beautiful shower bouquet of freesias, cyclamen',, and sweet peas, in tones of pink and cream, artistically arranged with maidenhair and asparagus fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Rita Thompson (chief), cousin of the bride, wearing pale, blue satin beaut-e, and Miss A. Gedye, wearing shell pink satin beaute, their frocks being modelled alike, on simple, graceful lines. Each frock was ankle length, having side panels to the skirt, which was fully flared, while tlie corsage had dainty puff sleeves, arid a swathed collar commencing at the back and crossing over in front at the waistline towards the back, where it Was finished in - a bow with hanging ends. A dainty head bandeau of flowers to match her frock was worn by each bridesmaid, also a rhinestone necklacein 'blue and pink respectively-—being gifts from the bridegroom. Satin court shoes and hose to match each frock were worn, and each carried a dainty Victorian posy of violets. The bridegroom was attended by Air. E. 1 Perrin, the best man, and Alt'. Desmond Phelps (brother of the bridegroom), groomsman.' At the conclusion of the marriage service a reception was given at the Froesia Lounge by Airs. Pearse, who received tier guests wearing a. black silk maroeain frock and a smart semi-fitting coat of black and white flecked poplene fashioned with the new high waisted effect and collar and cuffs' in' scalloped style. A smart black chip straw hat tarried up at the back with a black and whito flower, a natural skunk fur necklet, and a lovely bouquet of pink sweet peas completed her becoming toilette. Mrs. Phelps, mother of the bridegroom. wore a pretty frock of figured satin in auturtm tonings, a black silk coat trimmed with a black and white marabout collar, and a becoming black felt hat trimmed with brocaded velvet. Her charming bouquet was "composed of mauve sweet peas, relieved with touches of lemon. The tables were artistically decorated with freesias and violets, and during the wedding-breakfast the usual toasts were honored, musical items being a]so given. Tim guests numbered about 50. Airs.
