THURSDAY COMPETITION The following were the results of the games played in the Poverty Bay Basketball Association's competition yesterday : A grade.—Ex C.S. lost to Hum, 12 to 7 ; H.S.Q.G. defeated Athletic B, 16 to 6: Si. Mary’s Secondary A beat Athletic, 28 to 4. I, grade.—St. AI.O'.G. A heat St. M.S, C, 10 io 5; Triangle defeated St. M.O.G. B, 15 to 3; Goldies lost to St. M. Sec. PV. 31 to 3. In the A grade, very even play resulted in the match between Huia and Ex. C.S. Athletic B put up a strong defence against Huia, but Huia’s good passing and accurate shooting proved them the winners. In the match between Qt. AI. See. A and Athletic A, a swift game resulted, but St. Af. Sec. A’s good combination proved them the more experienced. In the B grade, a very brisk game was played between St. M.O.G. A and St. M. See. 0. St. M.O.G.’s passing was particularly good, and they were unfortunate in playing one player short in tho first half, otherwise the score might have been more than indicated. A very keen game took place between Triangle and St. Af.O.G. B Tn the match between St. M. Sec. B and Goldies a very one-sided game resulted. Goldies’ poor passing lost them many opportunities. A friendly game was played between All Blacks and St. M.O.G. B. the score being 6 to 4 in favor of St. AI.O'.G. B.
