BURTON CUP TOURNEY SEMI-FINALS PLAYED The semi-finals of the Burton Cup tournamonUmnder the auspices of the Gisborne Bowling Centre were played this afternoon, and as a result Bragg f Kalrutia) and Engelirptscii (Gisborne) met in the final, which will lie completed this evening. The semi-finals resulted as follow: —

Armstrong (Gisborne) .10 v.. Bragg (Kahutia) 25. D. G. Robertson (Poverty Bay) 17 v. Engebretsen (Gisborne) 18. In the match between Armstrong and Bragg the latter began at the first head with a two, and secured another two on the second, placing him four up. On the third head Armstrong secured a two, and another two on the fourth, but on the fifth head Bragg gained four, placing him four up once again. Bragg increased his lead to 17—4 on the ninth head, and on the tenth Armstrong secured a single, reducing his opponent’s lead to 17—5.

Bragg scored a single on the eleventh with a drive cutting the shot bowl. Armstrong gained another single on the thirteenth, making the game 19—6. Tho next head was burnt bv Bragg, and the sixteenth head saw Downey draw a shot for Bragg, and on the next Bragg scored one, making the game 21—6. On the twentieth head the score stood at 25—10 in Bragg’s favor, and the last head was not played. Engebretsen opened liis game against Robertson with a single on tho first head, and increased his lead to four on the third. Robertson gained throe on the fourth, but Engebretsen increased bis lead to 9—3 On the eighth. Robertson scored ori the tenth, and at that stage the game stood at 10—7 in Engcbretsen’s favor. -

On the eleventh head Engebretsen increased bis lead by three to 13 —7. but Robertson gained a three on the thirteenth. Engebretsen gained another on the next head, and the score then was 14—10 in his favor. Robertson laid three to equalise, Engebretsen burning tho head. Engebretsen gained one on the next, and two oil the following bead, at which the ,score stood at 17 —10. On the seventeenth Engebretsen laid two, but Robertson with Ids last bowl trailed the jack for two.—l7—l2. Robertson gained steadily on the seventeenth. eighteenth and nineteenth heads, and on the nineteenth the score was 17—15 in Kngebretsen’s favor. On the twentieth Cameron, for Robertson, made a nice press shot, and laid two up. Robertson with his first howl drew another. Engebretsen failed with his first, but drove with his second, and cut one of Robertson’s bowls out. Robertson gained two on that head, making tho score 17-all with one head to go. Half-way through the last, Cameron burnt the head for Robertson, and the head was replayed. In the replay Kngcbretsen laid three, and Robertson drove with his first and. cut two out. Engebretsen endeavored to put in a block, but failed, and /Robertson with his second again drove, and just missed the jack, giving the game to Engebretsen by one, the score being 18—17.
