SHAKESPEAREAN GIFT
NEW YORK, Oct. 22. Tlie great Shakespearean collection of tho late Henry Clay G. Folger, president of Standard Oil, valued at £850,000, is being removed from New fork to Washington, D.C., for installation there in tho Folger Shakespeare Memorial Library. This institution, a gift to tlie nation, costing £400,000, was begun bv Mr. Folger shortly before his death in 1930, and was endowed by him in his- will with £2.000,000. An armored car left New York with 350 of the most valuable books in the collection, under the supervision of five guards. About 12 hours later the truck reached Washington, and the volumes Were transferred to the vaults of the new library building, which is being completed on a plot near the Library of Congress.
