FOUGHT MAN FOR 106 ROUNDS LONDON, Sept. 12. Jem Smith, the prize-ring boxing champion of England, has died at the age of (SS. Twice heavy-weight champion of England and once part-holder of the world’s title, Smith was the last of the knucklo fighters. It was liis fight with Frank Slavin, the Australian, in 1880, which has been described as "a foul blot on pugilism,” which led directly to the present Lord Lonsdale and others drafting the regulations which now govern boxing all the world over. That famous fight lasted 14 rounds before tho ropes were broken and a draw declared. Two years earlier Smith fought .Take Kilrain, an American, on tho banks of the Seine for JOG rounds.
