DISCUSSION REVIVED
“SALE” OF BRAD-MAN BOARD OF CONTROL BLAMED (Elec. Tel, Copyright— United Press Assn.) (Received petober 27, 3 p.m.) LONDON, October 26. The Daily Telegraph, while admitting that Don Bradman would give a great fillip to Lancashire cricket, says no true sportsman wants to see cricketers bought and sold like merchandise or soccer footballers.
n The paper points out that, Bradman in no way took a blameworthy part in the negotiations. Actually the villain of the piece was the Board of Control, in deducting .£6O from liis bonus as a result of bis journalistic activities in-England. The board’s offieiousnesu was perhaps mistaken, bnt it is possible to sympathise with a body confronted by a slightly mutinous cricketer, backed by a nation to the last adoring man, woman, and child.
