SNOW IN THE SOUTH
. NO DAMAGE REPORTED (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. A heavy hut fortunately not long continued fall of show occurred on Saturday morning, preceded and followed by r.aiii and a bitterly cold south-west wind. The afternoon was clear, but rain fell in the evening and there was a sharp drop in the temperature, so that a frost with feared. However, before daybreak, the sky clouded again and more rain fell. To-day the ‘weather has been fine, with warm sunshine. No damage was done by the snow or frost, but apple growers had an anxious night, fearing a repetition of the devastating frost in October, 1920, which destroyed, their entire cr6p. ' All sports in thg city were postponed on Saturday.
