OBITUARY
A very old resident of the Balclutlia district, Mr. I). B. Sicvwright has died at. Balclutlia Hospital in his eightyeighth year, after a brief illness. lie came to New Zealand in 1875. Another very old resident of North Otago has passed away in the person of Mr. James Carson, at the age of 87 years. Mr. Carson left the Old Country in 1865 to go to Tasmania, and seven years later came to New Zealand. He had been a resident of North Otago since 1872. Another of the fast diminishing band of pioneer settlers of South Tarakani died last Tuesday in the person of Mrs, Margaret Forsyth, of Pihama, widow of the late Mr. Simon Forsyth, one of the best known of the early settler*. Airs. Fortsytli was born in Cumberland (England) 81 years ago, and first went out to Canterbury, settling in 1883 in Taranaki.
