“SPIRIT OF PUCKNEE”
IRISH SWEEPSTAKE LITIGATION LONDON, Oct. 14. How a seance was held in Mateo Constantino s house to consult the spirits as to whether lie was going to win the Irish Sweep, was related- at the opening of the Emilio Scala case. Constantino and Antonio Epicello are seeking the Court’s aid in deciding whether they have a share in the ticket held by Scala, which ticket won first prize. Epicello told the Court to-day that lit, with Scala and Constantino, sat. round a three-legged table, Scala saying that if a leg were lifted it would indicate the successful sitter. Scala then invoked the “spirit of Pucknee,” and the table leg on ScaTa’s side was raised. Counsel pointed out., following the decision of the Court regarding the injunction sought by Constantino and Epicello, that the case was limited to £6O, COO—two-thirds of Scala’s share, after the sale of the ticket. He added that if Scala failed on Lis other contentions he would rely on the Gaming. Acts for a verdict in his favor-.
