FATAL EXPERIMENT
TRAGEDY Of GAS TAP NOTTINGHAM, Sept. 10. It was disclosed at the inquest to-day on Dr. Gilbert Blurton, fatally gassed m his bedroom on Sunday night while .experimenting with a new apparatus for administering .oxygen and gas, that his death was .due to a tap not being turned on properly. There were tyro .cylinders in the apparatus, one containing nitrous-oxide and the other oxygen. Thor,ugh a mistake the .oxygen .cylinder had been turned only a quarter, while the other was fully on, with the result that the doctor received the gas only, instead of a mixture to he used in specified proportions. Dr. J. G. Bell said that he had -been in Dr. Blurton’s company on former occasions when he .inhaled gas and oxygen. Another doctor said that Dr. Blurton was-the kind of man who would try the effects on himself More using apparatus on his patients. A verdict of death by misadventure was .returned. , ■ «===========
