GISBORNE CLUB THE ANNUAL MEETING The 12th annual meeting of the Gisborne Amateur Surf and Swimming Club was held in Le Grand Lounge last night, Mr. E. T. Chrisp presiding over a fair attendance. The report, which was published in the Herald last week, was adopted. In moving the adoption of the report j the chairin',-in ’ commented that the club had ’had a. : series of ups and downs'. The year working,showed a loss of £7,2s' 7d, al ; though the balance-sheet, showed a credit of £2B 6s. Gd at the close of'the season. The treasurer,’ Sir. IT. F. Forster, said the receipts last year -were about £6O. less than in the greatest reduction' being'£46 in gate receipts. It would be difficult to find in New Zealand another starter like him, and it was mainly due to his alacrity, together with the splendid assistance of the stewards’’ that the carnival' pro-; grammes were got off as smartly as ; they were in the past. In regard to other positions, lie thought more, care should be taken with the costumes, while check starters must also exercise the greatest care. However, ail officials had done very fell. i\lr.'
