REVISION IMPERATIVE
TREATY OF VERSAILLES SENATOR BORAH’S VIEW ' WAR DEBTS CANCELLATION (Elec. Tei. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Oct. 24, noon.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 24. The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations’ Committee, Senator Borah, told French newspaper correspondents to-day- that a revision of the Versailles Treaty Was imperative. “It is becoming perfectly clear that the treaty'must be revised, either by peaceful means or by force,’’ the senator .warned. - Senator Borah said that if the Allies cancelled the war reparations from Germany he would favor tho cancellation by the United States of war debts owed by the Allies. As for disarmament, ho- expected that France Would determine for herself how she was prepared to disarm, but he saw no prospect for arms cuts .in. Europe so long as certain conditions arising Out of the Versailles Treaty continued in force. Immediately 'after returning from White House, where he met President Hoover, M. Laval said ho was prepared to discuss with Mr. Hoover all mutual problems between the two nations, but after tho beginning of the conversations he was prepared to discuss: publicly what he considers tho paramount' problems before France and tho United States.
