The book will not be a defonce of the Spanish monarchy nor ah explanation of his abdication, but will be devoted entirely to proving that Alphonso was friendly to France in the World War. Alphonso was surprised, since going to Paris in exile, to learn that his wartime position is regretted by many French. In his book, the King intends to show what he did to prove his sympathy for France, despite the proGorman attitude of many of the Spanish political leaders ‘ during the war and the Government’s olficial neutrality.
