COUNTY RATES
(To the Editor of tho Herald.) Sir,—l was, pleased to See at the Cbok Council meeting that Mr. .Bowen, had spoken out plainly re the above subject. I do licit think the public generally understand the terrible position that .ratepayers of the coiintibs hay© been pushed into. In conversation with my neighbors 1 find that the bulk of us ha’ve our hrt year’s rates paid by, the finds and dgbnts we deal with. Carl we expect them to keep on doing so this, year? Wo are only piling up more debts. In my own case my rates have increased since 1814/ iiicludiibr iiftrbor rate, over 400 per cent/, yot i do not cart any more jnoduee off my farin than in 1914. let wo have ihe Chamber of Commerce tirgiiig the Wab kohu Council to get further into debt by i,‘l5CO in bridging the creeks on tho northern outlet in competition with tho railway, and which the settlers do hot want at least until tilings improve. Unless there is ah immediate improvement in the price of our produce, which is not ift all likely, I do nbt see how the bulk of tho county ratepayers are to, pay .any rates at all this year,—•Yours J ,etc., ’ SHEEPFABM'ER.
