SEAMAN’S ESCAPADE
TROUBLE ON FERRY (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. When travelling to Wellington by the Maori on Wednesday, George Reed, 19, a seaman, went on the bridge and said lie wanted to steer tho ship. After being put off lie went to the engine room, but was quickly turned out. Later it was discovered that t lie Jogline had been cut through and the patent log lost, and also that a compass aft was damaged, the, pivot having been removed. This all happened through Reed being under tlie influence of liquor. Wljeu arrested ho had £5 in his possession. Mr, E. Page, 8.M., to-day fined him this amount and ordered him to make good the damage he had done, assessed at £B.
