In fhe amateur championship semifinals/at the end of the first 18 holes, Wagg is four up on Mortland, and A. I). Duncan seven Up on Colbeck. In the final of the professional golf championship, A. J. Shaw was seven up on J. Forest at the end of the first 18 hUles. Shaw maintained his brilliant form in 'the'final against Forest, and went round in 70. The cards resid: — Out: Shaw, 4,4, 3,5, 4,4, 4,4, 3 total, 35. Forest: 4,5, 3,7, 5,5, 5,4, 3 —total 41. In: Shaw: 4,4, 3,4, 3,4, 5,4, 4 total, 35. Forest: 5,5, 4,4, 4,3, 5,4, 3 —37. Arthur Duncan, 10 times holder of the amatefir championship, gained a big lead of seven over Golbeck, of Auckland. Duncan was playing in his best style. Wagg, of Hutt, was four up at the home hole after'a hard struggle With Mortland, of Taihape, Who Was in bad trouble at the starf of the round, and then recovered, but could not diminish Wagg’s early lead.
