STEAMER STRANDED

NO IMMEDIATE DANGER SYDNEY, Juno 18. The Island steamer La Perouse is reported to be stranded on a reef near Noumea, but is in no immediate danger. There arc 40 Sydney passengers aboard. It is expected that tho vessel will float off at high tide.

SAFELY REFLOATED (Received June 19, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 19. Advice has been received that- the steamer La Perouse has been refloated after being ashore for 24 hours on Amedeo Island. The vessel has reached Noumea.
