Ecrnhill Handicap, second division: Johnnie Jason, 9.5 (Pike), J; Phlare, 7.2 (Simpson), 2; Ptolemy, 8.8 (Munro), 3. Thirteen started. Bold Bid was smartest away, followed by Ptolemy, Bassino, Johnnie Jason, and Wanderlust. Johnnie Jason ran to the front at the turn for home and, thereafter was untroubled, winning by two lengths. Time, 1.25. Diuigar Handicap: Yeilniond, 8.12 (McCart.cn), I; Salavador, 7.0 (Hickey), 2; Sackbut, 0.10 (Weiss), 3. Nine started. New Sweet was early in the running from Aleman and Sjackbut, but Vcilmond, moving smartly round the field, took charge and ran home an easy winner by two lengths. Time, 3.3 7.R

Carry On quickly established a big lead from Donald, The Dimmer, Chide, Glare and Balloon King, which ran in that order to the entrance of the straight where The Dimmer headed Carry.
