POWER BOARD LOAN
(To the Editor of the Herald) Sir, —"Innuendo and insinuations over a nom-de-.plume are poisonous weapons and deserve only to be despised" are the angry statements of Mr. Ball in reply to my letter. Has he ever read the .Manchester Guardian, the Times (London), the Dominion (Wellington) and hosts of other papers? Has he read "Have we lost our way" by "Quousque" and all the hooks and articles by "A Gentleman With a Duster," and criticisms by "Agricol'a" and lastly "W.A.A.C.," which works have criticised different topics and other matters in a most ardent manner? Does Mr. Ball suggest that the authors of these well-known works are "unsportsmanlike" and have done something by writing under nom-de-plume which are poisonous and contrary to British fair play. If he does then I am sorry indeed that those authors have offended the chairman of tho Poverty Bay Power Board. Apparently my questions hurt, and though despicable in the eyes of Mr. Ball he had to reply. (hie usually ignores despicable things, and what a reply-—a tirade of abuse on his ideas of fair play. Why does he not answer the questions?--Yours, etc. CONSUMER.
