WOMAN GANG CHIEF
CLUE OF FOOTPRINTS LONDON, Feb. 22. Footprints made by high-heeled shoes, discovered in garden beds and on carpets, and a number of articles left behind by thieves who were surprised while burgling a bouse, are expected to load to the early arrest of a young woman believed i.o be the ring-leader of a gang of thieves operating in the Tat ford, Bromley, and Beckenhain areas of South-East London. A series of burglaries that have taken place during the past few weeks were followed late on Saturday night by (ho raiding of the house of Mr. and Mrs. A. ('.Smith, in l'.lacklands road. Southend Village, near Cat fowl. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, who had been on a. visit to friends, returned to find every room in the bouse ransacked, and a quantity of clothing and jewellery, valued at more than £2OO, stolen. The thieves were apparently disturbed by the return of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and in making a hurried escape from the. back of the house left behind a number of clues which the pcjlice believe will confirm their 1 suspicions as to the identity of the gang.
