8-YEAR LIFE SPAN TESTS
BRITONS OUTLIVE AMERICANS After an eight-year study of comparative life spans, the Milhank .Memorial Fund, an American charity organisation, has announced that the women of Great Britain live longer than American women. The organisation also reported that British women outlived the men in their own countries, while these men attained greater longevity than American men. "The American death-rate for women from l'o to til years of age is more than .'III per cent, higher than the rate for British women within the same range of ages," said the report. Comparing men in the same groups, the report shows that the .American mortality is ;it least la per cent, higher than the British. "This evidence of greater British longevity is considered significant, liecause it is shown consistently for every one of the eight years studied, as well as for each age group of men and women taken separately."
