THE UNREST IN MALTA

COMMISSION SET UP WIDE SCOPE OF INQUIRY (British Official Wireless.) Rec. 10 a.m. IU'GI'.Y, March 19. The Prime Minister, in the House of Commons, announced the composition of the Royal Commission on Malta. |Ty tin- terms of reference the commissioners are “to visit Malta and considei the existing political situation in the island, and to make ’ such recommenda tions as may seem to them desirable as to the steps which should he taken to deal with it, with special reference to the possibility of re-establishing constitutional government.” The commission will consist of Lord Ashwith, well known for his work as arbiter in industrial disputes in Great Britain, who will be chairman; Sir Walter Egerton, a distinguished Colonial administrator, formerly Governor ot Southern Nigeria, and British Guiana; and Count De Salis, one-time British Envoy Extraordinary to the Pope.

It is expected that* the commission will arrive in Malta early in April.
