TIIE SYDNEY SALES A DEFINITE ADVANCE The Sydney Wool Selling Brokers’ Association reports that the week’s sale closed with a definite advance of 10 to 15 per cent. Opening rates were fully maintained at yesterday’s sale, under ideal selling conditions. Competition has seldom been keener or more excited. Catalogues were fully cleared. Tho principal competitors wore France and Germany, though Japan was very prominent. Bradford was strong, and there was good support from the United States. Comebacks and crossbreds shared to full extent in the rise and brought record prices. Now that the sales are approaching their close it is realised that the .limited stocks are causing the trade anxiety, this being a strong factor in the rise of the market. It is gratifying that the improvement in prices has extended through all sections of the trade from the raw material to the manufactured article. With tho exchange rates as they are wool is still cheap for users, and there is it healthy feeling all round. The Sydney sales to date total 804,324 bales,
