REDUCTION OF WAGES
AUCKLAND DRAPER’S VIEW NO IMMEDIATE ACTION (Pf»r Prpfifl AHsnrftttinn.> AUCKLAND, last night. The announcement that a reduction of 10 per cent, in wages and salaries is to bo made by the drapers, clothiers and boot retailors at Christchurch as from Monday next, the cut to apply to all members of their staffs who are not under awards, is not likely to be followed in Auckland at present. The president of the Auckland Drapers, Clothiers and Boot Retailers' Association said that his association its an association had taken no definite action in the matter and he thought if, was unlikely that the Christchurch decision to reduce wages to the award minimum would be followed in Auckland.
