“Right On! ” by Wireless
C UCCESSFUiL experiments Lave been made with wireless for communication between engine drivers and guards of the long goods trains used in the U.S.A. Tests were made on a goods train which was more than a mile long. Ileiore the introduction of wireless, all signalling between the driver and the guard’s van was done by hand. This method was unsatisfactory, and many delays occurred. Hy the introduction of wireless telephone sets, using a- short wave-length, the driver and the guard of a modern train can keep in constant touch with each other.. When the new system is generally adopted hy the railways it will result in a great speeding up of freight, trains.
