CREATING UNEMPLOYMENT - WHOLESALE DISMISSALS . -r~ * • SYDNEY, Dee. 23. Despite recent protests by employer* against the proposed re-introduction of ttie 44-hour week with pay for 48 hours, also the abolition of rationing, Uni State Ministry hasdecided that both shall operate from January 5. It is estimated that 26,C00 employees will be dismissed. Employers assert that there is only a certain amount of money available for wages, arid the only alternative is wholesale dismissals, which will take effect tlie moment tile Government's proclamation is issued.
