“PLAY THE GAME”

AND SEE NATION THROUGH PREMIER’S PLEA TO BRITONS LONDON, Nov. 11. Britons, at home aud over all tho earth, to-day had before them the appeal of Prime Minister MacDonald to “play the game, to play the game manfully, and to see the nation through. ” Stressing the nation had no reason for pessimism, the head of His Majesty’s Government, in an address at the'Lord Mayor's banquet on Sunday night, said:

“This country has been in many a tight corner. It has not only been rcvisionod, but it has been rcinvigorated by men who believed in it, who sacrificed for it, whose inspiration was for it. ‘Who lives for England never dies

lie then pleaded, his voice carrying in an international radio broadcast which covered a large part of the earth’s surface, that his countrymen meet difficulties of tho present - with the spirit and the thought with which those'who had made the great sacrifices in the past met theirs. Concluding, he said: “Let history repeat itself once-more: and I am sure with your goodwill and support history will repeat itself once more. The change will coma and this great land of ours, with its Dominions aud its Empire, will continue on the upward road. ” The Prime Minister discussed economic problems and while admitting their seriousness in the British Isles, he held it was a. world-wide manifestation which England happened to bo facing more honestly than other nations. He asked for co-operation in solving unemployment.
