COOK STRAIT SWIM
WEBSTER’S INTENTIONS The attempt to swim Cook Strait, to bo made in February by Miss Mercedes Gleitz.e, may develop into a competition, us R. J. Webster, of Nelson, has announced that lie will attempt the crossing in Hie same month. Webster W as in Wellington last February awaiting favorable conditions for the Strait swim, but after several disappointments with the weather he had to postpone the attempt. During the last 10 months Webster has been swimming in the Buller river daily, and his trainer, Mr. M. Blomficld, reports that he is very fit. Webster expects to arrive in WellingFon about February 9. He intends to go to Wanganui in March to swim for .the Kellcrmau Cup. During his wait in Wellington early this year Webster made a study of the currents in Cook Strait. He states that he will place his knowledge of the conditions at the disposal of Miss Gleitz.e if there are any matters in which he can assist.
